Senior Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the generation of system specifications of new products. Lead in the development of hardware packaging specifications for products of high complexity. Assist in the determination of long-term critical product and process strategies. Evaluate new emerging technologies.
  
• Design highly complex enclosures, housings, components and assemblies as required. Perform tolerance studies, computer simulations, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Design of Experiments, as well as other technical activities required to ensure product robustness. Lead group efforts in the selection of critical components, design of plastic and metal parts and overall product thermal management.
  
• Execute hardware Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) of high complexity. Manage or lead multiple projects of moderate complexity. Participate in the executive review processes as required. Lead engineers and technicians in the product development processes. Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Mentor and coach engineers.
  
• Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material. Provide accurate labor and material estimates.
  
• Write comprehensive test plans, conducts detailed design validation tests and reviews test results.
  
• Maintain current and accurate project plans and notebooks.
  
• Arrange and facilitate mechanical design reviews.
  
• Participate in industry technical meetings, seminars and conferences.
  
• Follow and improve R&D processes.

Qualifications:

• B.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  
• Typically 12+ years of combined experience in 3 of the following areas:
  
  Electromechanical packaging design
  
  Computer-aided design
  
  Electronic manufacturing
  
  Mechanical design
• Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills
  
• Demonstrated leadership ability
  
• Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures
  
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  
• Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
  
• Background check restults satisfactory to SEL
  
• Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of one or more of the following:
  
  Industrial plastics
  
  Thermal modeling
  
  Finite element analysis
  
  Tool design
• Project Management experience
