Position Description


Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional and innovative individual for our Verification Engineer opening. This position will be located in our Burnaby, BC office.

Verification Engineer

Responsibilities:
  • Design test procedures and programs/scripts to perform automated tests of electronics circuit tests and firmware/software algorithms.
  • Test electronic circuits and firmware/software algorithms to meet specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Perform complex electronic circuits and firmware/software testing tasks including debugging / fault finding that require complete knowledge of electronic circuits and firmware/software testing processes.
  • Document, analyze, and communicate test results using written test reports, spreadsheets and database tools.
  • Perform root cause analysis of failed equipment.
  • Implement and assist with product system tests
  • Follow and improve engineering quality assurance processes.
  • Provide support as directed.
Qualifications:
  • BSEE, BE, BSCS or BSMIS degree or applicable experience
  • Minimum of five years experience testing and analyzing analog and digital electronics circuits and firmware/software algorithms.
  • Working knowledge of modern test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, emulators, logic analyzers, signal generators, SONET test sets, Ethernet test sets etc.
  • Working knowledge of microcontrollers and FPGAs
  • Working knowledge of WAN protocols SONET, T1, ISDN
  • Working knowledge of Network protocols TCP/IP, Ethernet
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Strong writing and speaking skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Substation Communication practices
  • CISCO Certified
